Thanks to everyone who managed to get to the Sausalito Seahorse on Saturday, despite the Golden Gate Bridge closure and the BGP Reunion. I had a blast singing for you!
Special thanks to Bee Side for staffing our CD table and helping to sell a couple of the "Made in Mill Valley" CDs to benefit the Richard de Lone Special Housing Project.
My ears are ringing again though, so I'm taking another break for a while so we can finish the album. Current target date is March 5th. Wish us luck!
Again, if you would like to help us meet that date, please consider pre-ordering the album on bandcamp.
In the meantime, I'm in search of a day gig to help finance the record.
I believe in "putting my money where my mouth is..." ;)
Musings and Upcoming Shows:
Last week, Arne and I finally had a chance to visit the Empress Theatre in Vallejo for one of the Wednesday Rambles. This is something we have been meaning to do since our friend Don Bassey became GM over there, but just did not have the opportunity to do so until we finally said "Let's just GO!" So we did.
The always dear and delightful Stefanie Keys was the featured guest along with her musical cohort, Dave Shul, a very tasty guitar player best known (so far as I can tell, anyway) for his work with Michael Franti and Spearhead. After we enjoyed the set, which ended with the "Janis' classic, "Move Over," the North Bay All Stars took a break. When they came back up, Don sang a tune then called us up to sit in and play a couple. It was FUN - what a warm and friendly vibe in a lovely community theatre.
Don has invited me to be the featured guest on March 4th! I'll be sitting in with the North Bay All Stars : Don Bassey on bass and vocals, Mike Emerson on keyboards, Matt Silva on guitar, Kevin Frazier on saxophone and vocals, and T Moran on drums.
Here is the link if you want to get your tickets early and $ave a couple of dollars on each!
If you would like to help spread the news about the show on facebook, go ahead and join the event - and "Thanks in advance" for your assistance with that.
Speaking of facebook, we have a Mari Mack & Livin' Like Kings group too.
That's it for now on the music front.
Please continue to send love and healing thoughts to our friend Sam. As you may already know, Sam Andrew is in a fight for his life. This morning, we received this latest update:
"Friends of Sam: As you know, the new year got off to a terrific start for Sam by welcoming long awaited improvements both he and the healthcare team fought so hard to attain. So it is with a heavy heart we announce that he is facing yet another hurdle and is battling a serious infection.
He is, once again, in critical condition and continues to need our thoughts and prayers now more than ever. Sam cannot have visitors at this time.
If you want to send something by snail mail the address is POB 10091, San Rafael, CA 94912."
That's it for now. Use your powers for good. Kindness is a vehicle for change.
